A long-discussed restaurant project tied to Little Alley Steakhouse appears to be showing signs of life in Uptown Charlotte, following the issuance of a new construction permit tied to the planned restaurant space at 214 N. Tryon Street inside Hearst Tower, according to recent reporting from the Charlotte Business Journal.
The publication reports that the permit carries an estimated construction value of approximately $3.7 million. While the filing does not explicitly confirm the tenant, previous reporting has linked the Hearst Tower restaurant project to Atlanta-based concept Little Alley Steakhouse, which first announced plans for a Charlotte location in 2020.
At the time, the restaurant was expected to occupy roughly 8,600 square feet within the Uptown tower, with plans calling for private dining rooms, patio seating, and a large wine display, according to previous reporting from The Charlotte Observer. The project later went quiet, with little public movement in the years that followed.
Little Alley Steakhouse, operated by F&H Food Trading Group, currently has locations in Roswell, Buckhead and Alpharetta, Georgia. Founded in 2012, the concept leans into a modern steakhouse experience with in-house dry-aged steaks, expansive bourbon and whiskey selections, seafood towers, and large-format dining spaces designed for both intimate dinners and private events, according to the company’s website.
If the permit is tied to the previously announced project, the restaurant would join Charlotte’s growing lineup of high-end dining concepts continuing to target the Uptown market.
An official opening timeline has not yet been announced. Efforts to get in touch with F&H Food Trading Group prior to the time of publication were unsuccessful.
