Maman is preparing for its North Carolina debut. It will join the Commonwealth development in Plaza Midwood, according to reporting by Jason Thomas.

The spot is expected to open in Plaza Midwood in a 4,120-square-foot space in early 2026, according to Charlotte Business Journal.

The French-inspired cafe is based in New York. Founders Benjamin Sormonte and Elisa Marshall launched Maman in SoHo in 2014. Since then, it has expanded to 46 locations across seven states, Washington, D.C. and Canada. Its strongest presence is in New York, Florida and D.C.

The cafe serves items like coffee, tea, sandwiches, salads, pastries and breakfast items. The menu features dishes such as smashed avocado tartine, quiche, a ham and cheese croissant sandwich, and pastries such as the “everything croissant.”

Maman’s spaces tend to incorporate charming, unique designs, varying from neighborhood to neighborhood. Elements often include touches like exposed brick, wooden farm tables and blue-and-white china.

“Greeted by the scent of culinary splendor that wafts through the space, our guests step into an experience that engages all of the senses: rustic décor at every turn, the aroma and comfort of cuisines inspired by family traditions and the highest quality ingredients,” the Maman website states.
