When Nathan Kingsley’s wife began a meal prep company three years ago centered around health-conscious eating, the brand took off. Now, Kingsley is bringing those same healthy principles to his new coffee shop, Mug and Maple, which will open later this month at 378 Technology Center Way in The Power House building in Rock Hill.

Mug and Maple, which has been hosting pop-ups in anticipation of opening, will focus on natural ingredients. Signature menu items will include a maple latte featuring New England maple syrup sourced from Kingsley’s home state of New Hampshire, a honeybean latte sourcing local honey and a salted brown butter latte.

In addition to the beverage menu, Mug and Maple will serve a food menu featuring cafe items such as breakfast sandwiches, Italian sandwiches and pasta.

“Everything we do follows our Maple principles, so nothing that we have in our cafe has seed oils, nothing that we have has artificial anything, and all our breads are unbleached and non-enriched,” Kingsley said. “We try to avoid all the junk.”

The design of the space draws inspiration from an upscale ski lodge atmosphere, featuring a 35-foot granite bar, cement floors, cozy spaces with couches and chairs and workspaces.

“Everything we did, we tried to take away our pain points with the coffee experience and tried to fix them as best we can,” Kingsley said.
