Raleigh’s Mala Plata is planning to make it permanent in the Triangle, with a planned opening for early 2025 at 2411 Crabtree Blvd, according to the restaurant’s Instagram.

The restaurant will focus on Latin American cuisine, specifically highlighting masa, a dough made from corn.

Mala Pata comes from several Triangle restauranteurs, including chef Angela Salamanca of Centro and the ownership behind Locals Seafood and Ex-Voto.

Locals Seafood is helmed by Ryan Speckman and Lin Peterson, who founded their company in 2010. Salamanca created the Ex-Voto concept with Marshall Davis.

Salamanca’s Centro concept serves Mexican cuisine, focusing on tacos, enchiladas and more.

As of now, a precise opening timeline is unknown. What Now Charlotte reached out to Salamanca for further details regarding Mala Plata but had yet to hear back before the time of publication.
