The Gibson Mill Market in Concord is receiving a new concept from an existing tenant. Ana Arriaga, who opened Taco Street at the market in 2022, is planning to introduce a gelato concept to the food hall in May.
“The market needed an ice cream place,” Arriaga told What Now Charlotte. “So I started building the idea.”
Named after Arriaga’s daughter Luna, Gelato di Luna will serve artisan gelato and cookie-gelato sandwiches, Arriaga told What Now Charlotte. It will also feature an Italian soda bar. There will be flavors designed to appeal to both adults and children, and vegan options will be available.
Customers can expect a “cute, nice” atmosphere, Arriaga said, with fun design elements.
Arriaga’s Taco Street serves tacos and other Mexican-inspired dishes such as ceviche, taquitos and tamales. Taco Street has two locations: one in Gibson Mill Market and another at the Stock + Grain Assembly Food Hall in High Point.
If Gelato di Luna is a hit, Arriaga could see herself adding another location in another food hall. For now, she is focusing on establishing the concept.
Gelato di Luna will join other tenants at the Gibson Mill Market, including Cara’s Cookie Co., High Branch Brewing Company, Johnny Rogers BBQ and Burgers, The Market Bar and Livy’s Neapolitan Pizzeria.
