A new wine bar and shop, Saint-Pierre, is heading to Raleigh Iron Works. Oakwood Pizza Box founder Anthony Guerra is bringing the idea to life.
Before opening Oakwood Pizza Box in 2017, Guerra gained experience in fine dining. He incorporated his background into Oakwood Pizza Box by offering a large wine collection with the pizza concept.
“Having a pizza shop with a lot of wine made sense, and now the pizza place is so busy that we want to have a space to celebrate [the wine] section of the restaurant,” Guerra told What Now Charlotte.
The spot will be more interactive than a retail bottle shop, acting more as a wine bar. Guerra said he aims to make wine more accessible to casual wine-drinkers.
“We want this to be a fun space,” Guerra said. “We’re trying to make it feel like a neighborhood bar. It will be nice and comfortable. We’re certainly trying to avoid being pretentious in every way possible but still make it a nice space where you’ll enjoy a glass or bottle of wine and then buy some bottles to go.”
Guerra said they are currently in the permitting process. They are aiming to open during the summer, sometime after Memorial Day.
“Wine can be an intimidating thing because some wine shops aren’t bringing [people] into the tent,” Guerra said. “I want people to learn more about what they would like, not what I would like, and have them explore that.”
