A new carryout food cart will bring breakfast options to South Loop.
L&G Family Restaurant recently announced on social media there is a new location opening at South Loop Food Company at 2537 S Wabash Avenue. This is a warehouse that hosts over 20 restaurants showcasing Chicago food. There is not yet a timeline for opening.
“L&G Sunny Up is your new express kitchen; fast, fresh and full of flavor,” says the post on their Instagram page.
Owner Dino Balaskas said he is still working with the city to receive licensing and open the space. It will be one of the over 20 food carts in the area, including Adda Indian Cuisine, Marco’s Pizza, Wings Factory and Bunch of Dumplings. He said this will be carryout and delivery only right now.
L&G Family Restaurant has been around since around 1990, serving the south side of the city at 10401 S Torrence Avenue. It is a breakfast and lunch spot known for its skillets and hash browns. The lunch menu features items like burgers and fries, sandwiches and salads.
The warehouse for the food carts is on the south side of the city, close to Chinatown. It is a restaurant co-op that is “modernizing the traditional food hall experience,” according to their website. Balaskas had only recently planned to move L&G Family Restaurant into the space.
