A new concept from the Italian restaurant looks to be coming to East Hyde Park.

The team at Ascione Bistro recently applied for space at 5500 S Shore Drive. This would be the third location for Ascione in the Chicago area. When speaking with owner Alex Argirov on the phone, he told What Now Chicago it is early to announce an opening date, but it will be sometime in the fall or winter.

The menus vary by location, with the restaurants offering brunch, lunch, dinner and dessert options. Hand-made pastas on the dinner menu include pennoni, tangliolini, spaghetti puttanesca and linguine. The bistros also serve cocktails, wines and beer.

Ascione first opened at 1500 E 55th Street in Hyde Park in 2019. What Now Chicago previously reported on the Skokie location opening at 8006 Lincoln Avenue in July 2023. This marks the newest expansion for the company.

In the application, the company applied for both consumption on premises and an outdoor patio. It is not close to other restaurants, with the nearest establishments being Cove Lounge and Snail Thai Cuisine. The new Ascione also looks to be going close to The University of Chicago campus.
