The Latin-inspired restaurant is expanding to Humboldt Park this fall.
The new location for Dope Drip Cafe will be at 2617 W Division Street and is expected to open sometime in September. This is a family owned Puerto Rican restaurant that is currently at the Washington Food Hall. The space is now under construction to prepare for opening.
Since starting the business, David Silva knew he wanted a larger space for the restaurant. This will be the biggest venture for the business since opening at the food hall. Silva grew up in Humboldt Park, so opening in this neighborhood means a lot to him.
“I was blessed to get a location at Humboldt Park,” Silva said.
Dope Drip Cafe has always offered Puerto Rican dishes with a “twist.” The new restaurant will still have the bowls offered, like the dope rice bowl which has build-your-own bowl options. The chefs are also experimenting with new sandwich options that haven’t yet been announced.
The business also caters, serving pancakes, omelettes, scrambled eggs and sandwiches. Along with the restaurant at Humboldt Park, a bar is being built inside. Silvia has the idea of serving wines, along with cocktail drinks to pair wish dishes served.
The restaurant will take the location of Janellie’s Kitchen which is listed as temporarily closed. This is near the corner of N Rockwell Street. In the most recent social media post, the floors were finished and electrical work was being done.
Silva has been a social media presence for a while, hosting podcasts and helping get the word out about other Chicago businesses and influencers. For more information on the cafe, visit their Instagram @dopedripcafe.
