A Lakeview space will soon be a new spot for unique cocktails and outdoor seating.

A liquor license application was recently submitted for 3242 N Clark St under the name Apothecary Cocktail Lounge. This will be at the former Matsuya sushi restaurant. It is listed as coming soon right now.

“Half speakeasy. Half old word pharmacy. But always a vibe!” Says the description on their Instagram page. The first post teasing the new speakeasy/lounge was on July 18.

There are applications for both a tavern and outdoor patio on the City of Chicago Liquor Applications site. It is not known if food like small bites will be served at the space. The location is right next to Chicago Comics, and near the target at the corner of N Clark Street and W Belmont Avenue.

The listed owners are Zach Heller and Eric Reid. When What Now Chicago reached out for comment, neither was available. The two ran a Kickstarter for the new project in May. In the description, Reid explains he is a “pharmacist by trade,” and he has been working with Heller for six years to prepare the speakeasy and cocktails.

Right now, there are no photos of the inside, but it is described as an “upscale craft cocktail lounge.” For more information on the opening, visit their Instagram @theapothecary_lounge.
