According to a recent article from Block Club Chicago, Taqueria Chingon will soon close and move to a new, undisclosed location.

“Taqueria Chingón, 2234 N. Western Ave., will close Nov. 26, the restaurant announced in an Instagram post Friday morning. The closure won’t be permanent, however. The taqueria will reopen elsewhere, although no details have been nailed down, according to the post.”

“The decision to close comes four years after partners Marcos Ascencio and Oliver Poilevey — who is also an owner of French restaurants Le Bouchon and Obelix — opened the taco spot in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

“After launching in late 2020, Taqueria Chingón quickly became known for tacos served with a hefty portion of asada, pastor and other toppings, as well as rotating specials. The restaurant was one of several buzzy spots to open along Western Avenue in recent years, including Chef’s Special and Allez Cafe.”

“We are not done!! Trust us when we say we will be back, more Chingon than ever. We just need to rest, retool, and find a space that will suit our needs better,” the Instagram post states.
