A former 1800s schoolhouse in Powell is getting a spirited new life as DoG Distilling Company, a dog-friendly distillery opening this summer at 3773 East Powell Road.

Blending vintage charm with modern flair, the reimagined space features exposed brick, antique lighting, leather and velvet touches, and a full-service bar pouring house-made vodka, gin, and eventually whiskey and bourbon. The dog-loving founders—two local couples with a passion for craft spirits and pups—transformed the historic property into a 1920s-inspired destination, complete with a patio and firepit area for relaxed sipping with two- or four-legged companions.

The name DoG stands for Distillers of Galena, a nod to the distillery’s local roots and its canine-friendly ethos. Their signature spirits, including flavored vodkas made from Ohio-grown corn, will be available both on-site and in local shops.
