As detailed in a recently filed permit, local pizza chain Brenz Pizza Co. is making plans to open a new store at 5063 N High St, in the former home of Clean Eatz. According to language in the permit filing, the buildout will include work to reconfigure the kitchen layout to setup for pizza prep, as well as several other changes throughout the space.

What Now Columbus spoke with Brenen Morse, who co-owns Brenz Pizza with his dad and cousin, and he shared that the eatery’s interior will be roughly 2,200-square-feet with seating for around 20 to 25 guests. Although the buildout hasn’t started just yet, the team is aiming to open early next year.

“Our goal is January 1, but that’s optimistic and if everything goes according to plan,” Morse shared.

He went on to explain that when factoring in the permitting steps and other aspects of the launch process, the team is probably more realistically looking at a mid-January opening timeframe.

The company currently has Columbus area locations in Dublin, New Albany and on Lennox Town Lane in Columbus, as well as locations in Knoxville, Tennessee and in the North Carolina cities of Durham and Chapel Hill.

“We’re trying to grow brand awareness for our pizza concept,” he said.

The menu features specialty pizzas like barbecue chicken, bruschetta and chicken bacon ranch, as well as an option to build-your-own pie with your choice of toppings. There are also breadsticks, wings, salads and desserts like cookies and a house specialty, called CinnaBrenz, which are bite-sized pieces of baked dough tossed in cinnamon and sugar.

Looking ahead, the Brenz Pizza Co. team is aiming to open one to two locations per year, between the Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and North Carolina markets, all while keeping the business family-owned in the process.
