According to recent reporting, Chido’s Tacos, a popular Springfield food truck, is opening a brick-and-mortar operation in COhatch The Market in downtown Springfield at 101 S Fountain Ave. There are nine vendors inside COhatch offering food, cocktails, brews and gifts, and Chido’s Tacos will join the lineup due to a vacancy after The Painted Pepper and Cork + Board announced plans to move out of the space.

Currently, the timeline for Chido’s Tacos to move in is sometime this summer. The taco food truck is known for serving birria style tacos, which is meat slow simmered in a variety of spices and chiles. This style, which first became popular in California a few years ago, has come to Ohio, thanks in part to local chefs and business owners like Armando Nunez, the owner of Chido’s Tacos.

The food truck, which started March of last year, serves a menu of tacos like shrimp, shredded chicken, ground beef and steak. The menu also includes burritos, chimichanga, pizza and sides like cheese dip, beans, rice and salsa. Drinks offered are bottled Mexican Coke, Jarritos and Mexican Fanta.
