A new queer-owned coffee shop is getting ready to open in Columbus’s Short North—and it’s more than just a place to grab a latte. Queer Beans Coffee & Tea will officially open its doors next month inside Stonewall Columbus, bringing a cozy, caffeine-fueled complement to the already beloved Little Gay Bookstore.

Founded with a mission to create a safe, sober, and affirming space for the LGBTQ+ community, Queer Beans will serve locally roasted coffee from Roosevelt Coffeehouse and offer a full menu of espresso drinks, cold brew, chai, and more. The for-profit café exists to support the nonprofit bookstore while also providing livable wages and workforce development opportunities—specifically for formerly incarcerated queer individuals.

With weekday hours starting at 7 a.m., Queer Beans aims to be a new kind of community gathering spot—warm, welcoming, and brewed with purpose.
