For nearly 45 years, The Midway Point served up cold beer, hand-crafted cocktails, and some of the best and biggest burgers in Addison. Now a new owner is proud to carry on that legacy in a location that was most recently home to another Point – Addison Point, the Town’s original sports bar established in 1977. The sports grill will open with a new name that pays tribute to both originals – The Last Point.
Kelcher Entertainment Group will open the new location on Monday, Nov. 10, at 4578 Belt Line Road in Addison. An ‘80s-themed grand opening celebration will be held the following Saturday.
“With The Last Point, we’re bringing back two Addison institutions. Regulars at both The Midway Point and Addison Point have referred to them as Texas versions of the ‘80s sitcom ‘Cheers’ – places where everybody knows your name,” said Kelcher Entertainment Group co-founder Mark Kelcher in a statement.
The heart of The Last Point remains true to its predecessors’ roots: a place to gather, grab a drink, enjoy a great meal and catch the game. The menu is made up of sports grill favorites with a Texas twist – starters like nachos, fried pickle chips and bottle caps, wings with a variety of sauces, burgers that come with ¼-pound or ¾-pound patties, sandwiches like the French dip, BLT and club, and entrees including chicken-fried steak and chicken fingers.
The sports grill will feel familiar to fans of The Midway Point and Addison Point, with décor from each of the two restaurants. Twenty-one TVs will fill the space for fans to catch the game, including TVs surrounding the old Addison Point circular bar in the center of the space.
A “Back to the ‘80s” themed grand opening party will take place starting at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15. The Point Pregame Party runs from 3 to 7 p.m. with free food and drinks including drafts, wells and house wines. At 7 p.m., The Last Point goes back in time with a Rewind to the ‘80s Party with a live DJ and ‘80s pricing on food and drink, including $1 drafts, $1 wells and $1 house wines. Return to the glory days in your best ‘80s gear – think leg warmers and windbreakers – and party till 2 a.m.
“We’re proud to build upon the legacy of these storied sports bars with The Last Point and can’t wait for old friends and new to come check it out,” Kelcher added.
