An exciting new entrant is preparing to take the McKinney fast-casual dining scene by storm (and by soup). Café Zupas, a concept that puts a premium on healthier, freshly-made cuisine, is planning a new location in the region.

The eatery has filed paperwork to begin construction at 3990 West University Drive. According to the forms submitted to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, work is scheduled to begin on the location on October 1 of this year and should conclude by December 1. While a precise opening date is not currently available, this timeline suggests the restaurant will open in early 2026.

The newly constructed building will provide Café Zupas with 2,863 square feet of space to greet and serve guests, and two drive-thru lanes for customers in a hurry.

Café Zupas opened its first location in Utah in 2004. The chain has expanded to include 81 storefronts across the country. Based on information provided by the company website, it appears the McKinney location will be Café Zupa’s first Texas home.

As the name suggests, Café Zupas focuses heavily on soups, all of which are made in-house. The concept uses superior ingredients to craft the various dishes on its menu, which includes grain bowls, sandwiches, salads, and desserts.
