Beloved pizza shop, Cane Rosso, known for its authentic, wood-fired Neapolitan creations is expanding to add another location at 7150 Skillman St, Suite 190, the spot that previously housed Taco Diner.

Cane Rosso is owned by Jay Jerrier, the man behind Zoli’s, Cow Tipping Creamery, and Thunderbird Pies among other culinary hits.

Cane Rosso began as a mobile pizza operation, with outposts in Dallas, Houston and Austin. According to the website, Cane Rosso “creates an authentic Italian dining experience with the highest quality ingredients, handmade dough, and mozzerella made in-house daily.”

The Cane Rosso website tells the charming history of the restaurant, inspired by the owner’s honeymoon to Italy in 1993. “He had an epiphany upon tasting his first true Italian pizza and knew that he had found something special. Wanting to replicate the experience that he had in Italy, when Jerrier eventually made his way to Dallas, Texas, he had a wood-burning oven built in his backyard,” the website says.

The first location opened in 2011 in Dallas’ Deep Ellum district, and has since expanded to seven locations across the DFW area.

Popular items include the Honey Bastard — a pie with housemate mozzarella, hot soppressata and bacon marmalade and pastas like the Truffle Carbonara, Fusilli All Vodka and Fried Nuggz (AKA mozzarella bites).  Explore the complete menu at www.canerosso.com
