A fun idea that hopes to bring a smile and a good cup of coffee to people shopping at a Plano Walmart could come to fruition early next year. “We have a coffee truck called The Herbster. It’s this fun, old French van that we’ve built out,” said Herb’s House CEO AJ Wiebe.
The Herbster has been used for various events across DFW to serve at birthday parties, church events, and teacher workdays. Now, something else is in store for The Herbster. “Basically, we are essentially going to take one of those coffee trucks and put it inside of Walmart,” Wiebe told What Now Dallas.
“The idea would be that people can come in and have a place to get a good cup of coffee, specialty drinks, lattes,” he explained. Herb’s House has been serving guests for about four years at a storefront on Dyer St. in Dallas near the Southern Methodist University campus. Wiebe hopes to expand the truck line and get into more Walmart stores.
The truck will have to be modified before it’s added inside the Walmart at 8801 Ohio Dr. in Plano. Wiebe said they are still working on particulars about possible seating for guests to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. “It’s really good coffee.”
Herb’s House has its own, private label coffee for customers to buy. The brand’s private label and other products including hats, shirts, mugs, and cups will be available for purchase. They also hope to add a miniature version of The Herbster for toddlers to explore.
“It’s a really fun atmosphere, and it hopefully will put a smile on people’s faces,” Wiebe said. “When people see the truck for the first time, they always say, ‘Oh my gosh. That’s the cutest truck, or the cutest thing, that I’ve ever seen.’ It really is just a fun idea that will hopefully be a bright spot for people’s day.”
