Some call them “subs”, some call them “hoagies”, others still call them “heroes”. Whatever name they go by, sandwiches piled high with  meats, cheeses, and vegetables have been mainstays of the fast-casual dining world for as long as there has been sliced bread. These absolute staples never go out of style, and Tarrant County diners can soon look forward to enjoying some of the most beloved in the business. Jimmy John’s, arguably the gold standard in fast-casual sandwiches, is opening a new location in Azle.

The Illinois-based sub chain is bringing its deli classics to 1000 Boyd Road, suite 200 in Hornet’s Plaza. The relevant paperwork filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows that Jimmy John’s will be renovating and moving into a 1,421 square foot space.

While an official opening timeline is not currently available, the odds seem favorable for a late 2025 opening. Construction is set to begin on the project on June 16 and should wrap by September 26 of this year. Franchisee David Brumfield tells What Now Dallas that the restaurant is still more than 10 weeks from opening.

Jimmy John’s has been delighting customers since it first opened in Illinois in 1983. The restaurant achieved considerable success thanks to its use of superior, fresh ingredients. The website explains: “We use fresh vegetables because we don’t hate salads, we just feel bad for them. We slice our provolone cheese and premium meats in-house every day, because packaged pre-sliced meats doesn’t have the same ring to it. And we bake bread all day, every day because stale bread isn’t bread, it’s…croutons.”
