Mi Cocina at 3699 McKinney Ave, suite 200, is planning to leave Dallas’s West Village soon. The restaurant will remain open for a few more weeks, serving its last customers in February, per The Dallas Morning News. It will then reopen at its new address in Uptown Dallas.

The relocation was first announced in July 2021. The restaurant was originally planning to close at the end of 2021 and reopen early this year in place of Del Frisco’s Grille on McKinney Ave.

Mi Cocina’s new Uptown space is larger than its West Village digs. It has two levels with patios both upstairs and downstairs. The restaurant is planning to turn upstairs into an upscale bar called Seis Segundos that will serve premium tequilas and cocktails. It will be modeled after the Monkey Bar atop Highland Park Village’s Mi Cocina.

According to CEO Edgar Guevara, the Seis Segundos bar will “have its own vibe” and feature a special cocktail menu that focuses on drinks made with cold-pressed juices. Cocktail options will include the Chihuahua – made with sotol, cold-pressed cucumber juice and a splash of prosecco; as well as the Smoky Bee – made with mezcal, Grand Marnier, lemon and honey.

Food-wise, the menu will be the same featuring favorites like BBQ Brisket Enchiladas, Habana Nachos and the icy Mambo Taxi.

Founded in Dallas in 1991, Mi Cocina has become a Tex-Mex restaurant legend with more than 20 locations across the DFW area. Most recently, the brand opened a location in Klyde Warren Park, replacing upscale gastropub Savor which closed in 2020 due to COVID-19.
