A restaurant with two locations in New Jersey is making its way to Texas to share its Pakistani and Mediterranean cuisine. Gyro King & Grill is set to open its first location in the Lone Star State at 8050 Preston Rd., #105 in Frisco.
Gyro King & Grill operations manager Anum Khan told What Now Dallas that the space is a shell, so they must do some buildout and add equipment and furniture before they can open to the public. They hope to open by September.
“We saw that there was a demand for people to want to try this type of cuisine. So, out in Texas, we know there’s a good population of Pakistani people. We also serve halal food, which is very important to the Muslim community,” she explained.
With the current demographic of the North Texas area, Khan said they thought Gyro King & Grill would be a good fit. “It will bring a new taste and allow people to introduce themselves to these foods that they might not be familiar with, but they might enjoy.” They are looking to expand across the U.S. if they can find and partner with local owners in other areas.
The family-friendly restaurant offers a variety of fresh menu items. Diners can pick a base, the toppings, and then a protein, and all items are made-to-order and customizable. “We have Mediterranean things like chicken kababs, shish kababs, and hummus,” she explained. “We also have the Pakistani side, which is more so like seekh kababs and chapli kababs.”
Many of the dishes are protein-heavy with few or no carbs. “If they want to know more about the different types of halal food, this will be a great opportunity for them to dip toes, try out different types of chicken, lamb, shawarma—things that they might not be too familiar with, but I know they will enjoy.”
When Gyro King & Grill opens this fall, they plan to have a soft opening with discounts on food, and a grand opening with free gyros giveaways.
