Velvet Taco, a chain on the cutting edge when it comes to the titular dish, is preparing to change the way Irving diners think about Tex-Mex cuisine. The innovative concept has filed papers to open its next DFW location in the neighborhood, with work set to begin early next year.

Velvet Taco will be setting up shop at 901 N MacArthur Boulevard, Suite 100 as part of the MacArthur Park Shopping Center. According to paperwork filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the restaurant will be renovating a 2,500 square foot storefront, with work set to begin on February 2 of next year. The turn around is predicted to be relatively swift, with construction projected to wrap by May 4. This does not provide a definitive opening timeline, however it does bode well for Velvet Taco to be customer-ready by late spring or early summer.

Many DFW diners are already familiar with Velvet Taco’s reimagining of the beloved taco, as the chain has 16 locations across the region. While this built-in fanbase will undoubtedly serve the taqueria well, Velvet Taco is bound to create a whole new crowd of believers through its ethos to using: “only the freshest ingredients available to offer a menu that explores the edge of multi-cultural boundaries, liberating tacos to a whole new level. We slow roast our own chicken and corn, use lots of booze in our margaritas, and make everything from scratch.”
