An innovative chain with an eye towards invention is preparing to change the face of Fort Worth Taco Tuesdays. Velvet Taco is seeking to elevate the beloved dish into high art when it opens a new location in the area-an event soon to happen, according to a post in the Fort Worth Foodies Facebook group.

The long-in-development restaurant will be opening at 2828 North Tarrant Parkway. Locals report that signage is up, and Velvet Taco’s VP of Marketing Brooke Perry tells What Now Dallas that the Fort Worth storefront will be opening in April.

Velvet Taco first began plotting its latest Northeast Fort Worth location in 2022. According to paperwork filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, construction began on Velvet Taco’s 3,369 square foot storefront on August 15, 2022. The restaurant is moving its wares into a brand new building, built from the ground up.

Velvet Taco is a Dallas original, launched in the city in 2011. Fueled by delicious interpretations of one of the world’s favorite foods, the chain has expanded to include nearly 50 locations spread across 8 states.

The company’s website explains what makes it-and its cuisine-so special, stating: “We’ve made it our mission to deliver a fresh take on the ubiquitous taco – to elevate this humble food to something more. We use a tortilla as a canvas to make our art. The result is over twenty different taco varieties featuring globe-trotting flavors.”
