A cult-favorite restaurant is preparing to bring southern breakfast favorites to Rockwall. Waffle House, the beloved chain that stays open all 24 hours of the day, has filed paperwork to open in Royse City.
The restaurant will be setting up its griddles at 370 West Interstate 30. Rockwall residents have a while to wait before digging into one of the titular waffles; paperwork filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows that work isn’t set to begin on the project until May 1 of 2026. The construction should be concluded by October 30 of next year, suggesting Waffle House may, in fact, be open by late 2026.
Described as a “new construction”, the completed restaurant will provide Waffle House with 1,840 square feet to greet and serve customers.
Waffle House has been a fixture on the restaurant scene since it opened its first location in Georgia in 1955. The chain-which improbably owns its own record label and features classic jukeboxes filled with 45-rpm singles-has become a hospitality force of nature. The company has ballooned to include 2,006 storefronts across the U.S.
