The DFW Tex-Mex scene is about to get a little spicier with the upcoming addition of a popular Austin-based concept. Chuy’s is preparing for its McKinney debut, and construction is set to start this spring, reports Dallas Business Journal.

The restaurant will be opening at 8405 West University Drive. Paperwork filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation states that the storefront will span 5,721 square feet. Work is set to begin on the new construction on May 18 and is slated to wrap by December 18.

McKinney diners can look forward to sampling Chuy’s cuisine before the year is out. A Chuy’s representative was kind enough to fill What Now Dallas in on the restaurant’s regional arrival, saying: “We’re excited to bring Chuy’s to McKinney and introduce guests to our one-of-a-kind take on Tex-Mex, featuring fresh, made-from-scratch dishes, signature ‘ritas, and our famous creamy jalapeno sauce – all served in a fun, eclectic atmosphere. We’re received outstanding support from the city and expect to open in late 2026.”

Chuy’s started serving customers in 1982 and has been a powerful presence on the Tex-Mex dining scene ever since. The chain, which is heavily concentrated in Texas, has over 100 locations open and operational.
