A blowout bar concept that turned a single-service salon into a national brand is coming to McKinney. According to public filings, Drybar plans to open at 8251 Eldorado Pkwy., Suite 101, within the Eldorado Neighborhood Shops.
What Now Dallas reached out to multi-unit franchisees Sarah and Tim Atkinson, who confirmed that the opening is targeted for the first weeks of November 2026, pending construction timelines.
Drybar was founded in 2010 on a clear premise: do one thing and do it well, “and it’s blowouts,” Atkinson said. No cuts. No color. Just a professional wash and blowout in a beautifully designed space, with a menu of signature styles ranging from the Straight Up to the Southern Belle. “You come in, you get your hair washed and blown out, and you just feel wonderful and ready for anything when you leave,” Sarah Atkinson told What Now Dallas.
The McKinney location comes with a potential construction wildcard, according to Atkinson: the signature white cabinetry, a defining feature of every Drybar location, is built by corporate, disassembled, shipped to the franchisee, and rebuilt on site. “That’ll be the hold-up if that’s what happens,” she said, with the candor of someone who has been through the process before.
The McKinney location marks the third Drybar for Atkinson and her husband, who opened their first in Abilene in 2023, followed by Lubbock in 2024.
A fourth location in Denton is already planned for late 2027 or early 2028, as part of a four-location franchise agreement the couple signed when they first partnered with the brand. For Atkinson, the journey to franchising started with her own loyalty to the brand.
“I started going to a Drybar in the Metroplex, and I just went to them everywhere. We live in Abilene and we didn’t have one, so we just started researching it and bought one,” Sarah told What Now Dallas. The Eldorado Parkway corridor in McKinney is one of the city’s busiest retail stretches, serving a dense and growing residential base in West McKinney.
That makes it a natural fit for a brand that has long thrived in affluent, family-oriented suburban markets. For anyone who hasn’t tried it yet, Atkinson has a straightforward pitch: “Everyone needs to try it. You come in, you get your hair washed and blown out, and you just feel wonderful and ready for anything when you leave.”
