A new restaurant, Chào and Chén Vietnamese Kitchen, is bringing authentic Vietnamese food to the Hampden neighborhood, according to a business license filing. The restaurant is opening in the Tamarac Shopping Center on 3333 S Tamarac Dr., nestled between Mexican restaurant Las Caras and Extra Innings.

Chào and Chén is a family-owned restaurant operated by Annie and Jonny Nguyen. The two got the keys to the space in November 2025, working through the buildout phase while they also develop their recipes.

The restaurant isn’t even open yet, but you can get an idea of their food from recipe development videos posted on their Instagram. These videos will just transfix you. I can’t seem to stop rewatching their butter-fried quail video or a mesmerizing video of steaming xoi gac, red sticky rice, and xoi la dua, a vibrant green, pandan-tinted sticky rice.

Chào and Chén is set to open in August or September of 2026, if all goes to plan.
