Boutique coffee chain Black Rock Coffee Bar is preparing to open in Aurora, at 11901 E Iliff Ave. Permitting records filed with the city this month reveal the brand is working on a new drive-through location at the site.
A conditional use permit is marked as “in progress” for the project, which is taking place near the corner of S Peoria St. and E. Iliff Avenue. The application was initially accepted on August 18, and multiple steps have been logged, including drainage review, traffic referral, and payment of associated fees totaling over $13,000.
This store is reportedly one of two the chain has planned for the city. Last summer, What Now Denver covered the brand building a location at Mississippi and Havana, but there have not been any updates regarding it. Black Rock Coffee Bar has not returned repeated requests for comment.
There are seven outposts open in the state currently, but others are in development. The business was founded in 2008 in Oregon and has expanded rapidly across the western United States. In addition to coffee, it also sells teas, smoothies, and energy drinks.
