Black Rock Coffee Bar is planning to open a new drive-thru location in Colorado Springs at 2933 Sage Street, according to city permitting records. The chain is in the process of working with town officials on corrections to obtain approval for the project.
The new coffee shop, proposed to be 735 square feet, will take the place of an existing car wash at the corner of Fillmore and Sage streets. It will have an outdoor seating area and feature a single-lane drive-thru, documents state. Construction is anticipated to begin in February.
This future store is part of Black Rock’s strategic expansion in Colorado. It follows another recently announced location expected for south Denver, which What Now reported on a few weeks ago, and one opened in another part of Colorado Springs earlier this year. Restaurant Dive claims the corporation’s goal is to reach 1,500 units.
Founded in 2008 by Jeff Hernandez and Daniel Brand, Black Rock Coffee Bar currently operates over 150 locations across seven states. This week, the company filed for an IPO, potentially valuing it at over $1 billion and signaling plans for further growth with the help of investors.
