Harbinger Coffee, which opened their first location at 505 S. Mason Street back in 2012, is getting ready to move into a bigger location at 236 S College Avenue with just under 1,600 square feet of space to work with.
The company, owned by Jonathan Jarrow and Ben Kutcher, is dedicated to “showcasing some of the finest coffees from around the world,” according to their website.
Harbinger Coffee was founded by Jarrow, with Kutcher adding on as a partner in 2016.
As to the name, “harbinger” means “one that pioneers or initiates a major change” or “one that presages or foreshadows things to come.”
Both of these definitions tie back to the company’s desire to offer “exotic, exquisite, and intoxicating” coffee.
The website also offers purchase for their bags of coffee, as well as a “roasters choice” coffee subscription that delivers fresh roasted coffee bi-weekly or monthly as selected by the roaster.
Although there’s no official date for the move, Jarrow confirmed they were hoping it was sometime in September 2021.
Correction: An earlier version of this article misstated that the 236 S. College Avenue address would be a third location for Harbinger Coffee instead of an upgrade.
