Huckleberry Roasters, a Denver-based coffee roasting company founded in 2011, is in the works of opening a production facility at 1255 West Virginia Avenue.

The owner, Koan Goedman, reached out to What Now Denver on Tuesday and said they were around three to four months out from starting the construction work, as they are still working out zoning and building permits.

Although the unit covers 13,000 square feet of space, Goedman confirms, “Huckleberry only has half. The other half is actually occupied by a collection of other makers and local manufacturers, from leather bags to candle companies. There’s about five to seven others sharing the space, so hopefully it will be a fun little community.”

On the Huckleberry side of things, it’s initially opening as a production facility to help serve the other two locations. However, hopes and aspirations account for a desire to open a little cafe within a year or two after roasting starts, but Goedman says it’s not yet a sure thing.

If it does happen, we’re sure it’ll have the same hope as seen in the two locations that are already open: Approachable and memorable experiences while relationships are being built. We all need a place to bond over a good coffee sometimes, and Huckleberry aims to make people happy while serving just that.

As to waiting for the final details to be approved, Goedman says, “We’re trying our best to stay patient, but we’re excited. We just want to do it right and make sure we’re set up for success in the long run.”
