Records show that a new Mexican concept by restauranteur Jim Nixon is closer to becoming a reality. Takiza Taco & Tequila Bar recently applied for an H&R license for its upcoming 1519 Wynkoop St. location, the Lower Downtown Neighborhood Association reported.
The concept has been in the works for a while, first announced by the Denver Post late last year. The brand has been very quiet about progress, but its website does show that there are two locations coming: the LoDo spot and one at 652 S Colorado Blvd.
Takiza Taco & Tequila Bar was described as the “little sister” of Nixon’s other Mexican concept, Kalaka. The establishment will have a simple menu with tacos, tequila, and mezcal as the focus.
The LoDo location will take over the old Marg’s Taco Bistro place, and the Glendale space is the now-vacant Next door restaurant.
Do you or does anyone else you know have ‘eyes on’ the 2 locations for the future Takiza Taco & Tequila Bars, to see what kind of progress they are making in setting up the restaurants? The one at 652 S Colorado Blvd seems to be an active Illegal Burger restaurant. Is that going to be a split-named site, or is Takiza Taco going to take it over completely?
