Karen’s Diner will be located at 16th St. Mall Denver, CO 80202 from September 17 to November 27, according to Aden Levin, director of Viral Ventures Global — the company responsible for creating the incoming Karen experience.
As aforementioned, the intriguingly nasty concept that is Karen’s Diner was conceived by Viral Ventures Global — an event-planning entity hellbent on creating immersive experiences that are both intimate and cutting edge.
Levin told What Now Denver, “[The company] just wanted to create the most unique and entertaining dining experience, especially with the rise of ‘Karens’ during the lockdowns. We felt there was no better [way] than to invert hospitality norms and allow people to get paid to act like ‘Karens.’”
While at Karen’s, ticket-buyers ($15. The ticket price is later deducted from your bill) will be greeted by the staff with equal amounts of disdain and disrespect while enjoying a delicious selection of burgers, fries, shakes, cocktails, and complaints (vegan options are available, but be careful when ordering them — Karen’s Diner staff are…easily angered).
According to a press release provided to What Now Denver, Karen’s “is a diner like no other…expect turbulent service, singing waiters, and regular guest appearances from the manager — the biggest Karen of them all! Don’t expect special treatment at this diner because it’s all about Karen, and she won’t be taking any of your nonsense!”
The diner debuted (and exceeded expectations) in the UK and Australia, and Denver will be the highly-anticipated pop-up’s first US appearance. When asked about the Colorado location, Levin explained, “We’ve done lots of great events in Denver before and built a loyal following, so [it was only] natural to open our first US Karen’s [there].”
