A new premium Korean barbecue concept opening at LoDo’s The Confluence in 2022 will offer guests an interactive, all-you-can-eat dining experience.
“Each table is a cooking top, and the customers can grill the meats to their own liking,” explained Peter Oh, Hwaro Korean BBQ partner.
Oh said with an all-you-can-eat concept, people will get great quality and value for their money. The restaurant concept has been popularized in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and along the East Coast, especially in New York.
“Something like that is what we want to bring to Denver,” Oh told What Now Denver. “We really hope that Denverites will take to it.”
The Hwaro Korean BBQ concept began as an idea prior to the pandemic and is finally moving forward after multiple delays. Oh said coupled with the pandemic and the backup with city permitting, bringing Hwaro Korean BBQ to Denver has taken a lot longer than anticipated.
Oh has been working with Brian Unger from Frontline Design and Development on the architectural designs. Oh hopes to open Hwaro Korean BBQ in the spring of 2022.
“Whether that’s going to happen or not, it’s not entirely up to us anymore. It’s up to the city, and the contractors, and how soon we can procure the building materials for it,” Oh shared. “It’s very difficult, these times, but we’re up for the challenge.”
Hwaro Korean BBQ will offer proteins such as beef, pork, poultry, and seafood for guests to grill at their tables. Rice is offered, as well as a plethora of side dishes. “The way Korean concepts work, you get a bunch of side orders coming in with the meat, and its typically anything from five to 15 different things that you eat family-style,” Oh explained.. “It’s called Banchan,” he said, “and it’s basically as much as you can eat, as well.”
