Mile High nightlife veteran Regas Christou is expanding his empire once again, but it might also signal the end of an era. According to the Denver Business Journal, he’s preparing to debut a new lounge called Parea at 40 E 11th Ave, but told the publication that it’ll be his last venture in town.
Parea, meaning “gathering place” in Greek, will be a Mediterranean-inspired lounge. It will offer craft cocktails, flatbreads, French fries, and more. While initial hopes were to launch in mid-September, permitting issues have delayed the opening, and no new date has been announced.
The Vendry advertises that the property will also be available to rent out as an event space, hosting wine tastings, networking events, and listening parties. The interior has two bars and can accommodate 140 people, and there is a 100-person patio as well.
Christou, founder of CoClubs, has operated dozens of venues across Denver for over 30-plus years. But he now claims rep tape with city processes has made it too difficult, and that Parea — his 32nd concept — will be his final endeavor in the industry.
He’s the founder of many iconic Denver hotspots that are still popular today, like Bar Standard, The Junkyard, Milk, The Church Nightclub, and Club Vinyl; however, he sold the last two to Insomniac last year, according to Westword. Others, like Roo Bar, The Living Room, and Jive Kitchen & Bar, shuttered in the last decade.
