McDonald’s is planning a significant renovation of its restaurant in Parker located at 10950 S Parker Rd. near Mainstreet. Planning documents submitted to the city outline the changes the corporation wants to make, and are listed as “under review”.
The planned improvements include exterior alterations, a complete remodel of the dining room to make it more modern, and new energy-efficient kitchen equipment. Changes will also be made to the PlayPlace children’s area and the drive-thru.
The applicant for the project is Strategic Land Solutions, while the architect is listed as Arris Architecture, and the landscape architect is Natural Design Solutions, Inc. The renovation will increase the building’s gross floor area to 6,072 square feet, and the site will offer a total of 41 parking spaces, including 29 onsite.
Juan Samour is the franchisee who operates this McDonald’s location, according to Restaurant Finance. He started with the company as a crew member and has worked his way up to owning multiple restaurants in the Denver area.
Without reading through all the documents, I am assuming that they will remove the ability of the customers to have access to the soda fountain for refills. Every McDonald’s in Parker has done this. This is the company’s new policy and I think might make the competition more appealing for those that dine in and don’t want to go through the hassle of finding an employee for a refill. Both Wendy’s, Arby’s and Burger King in Parker offer self service free refills. I do understand that most of the business nowadays is drive-thru, but my children who are now young adults, got hooked on McDonald’s through the playland. The only reason that I was able to sit at the Playland for endless hours is because I was quickly able to get a refill on my shoulder while keeping an eye on the children, without having to go up to the employee and try to get their attention, which given McDonald’s new store configuration has become increasingly more difficult. Good luck to McDonald’s in the future.
