National barbecue chain Mission BBQ is opening a new location in Arvada, at 5525 Wadsworth Bypass. The restaurant, set to launch in December, will be the second outpost for the brand in the state, following a Colorado Springs opening.

The project will see a former Ruby Tuesday transformed into the smoked meats concept. This 5,465-square-foot restaurant is designed to accommodate 159 occupants. Alan Hamm Architects and Bennett & Pless, Inc. are handling the design and structural engineering, records say.

The mission of the brand is to serve authentic BBQ while paying tribute to the men and women who serve the country. It was founded on September 11, 2011, by Steve Newton and Bill Kraus.

Mission BBQ’s rapid expansion across the United States has led to an impressive list of establishments that already span many other states: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
