Iconic Denver venue Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox is set to undergo a transformation with its recent sale, Westword reports. The venue, located at 1215 20th Street, will close for renovations in September and is expected to reopen by late October.

Eric Pirritt, known for his work with ENDIT Presents and as former president of Live Nation’s Colorado branch, will take the concept over from Edible Beats founder Justin Cucci. The plan is to maintain its unique charm while focusing on enhancing its music programming.

Randall Frazier, who designed Ophelia’s sound system in 2015 and managed its audio production until the pandemic, will join Pirritt in revamping the venue’s operations. He will handle booking and sound.

The building housing Ophelia’s was originally constructed in the early 1920s as an industrial space, and served various purposes over the decades, including as a warehouse and an adult bookstore. In 2015, the building was transformed into a music venue/eatery.
