After a brief hiatus, Petunia Bakeshop is reopening in Sunnyside, according to a retail food license application. The upcoming bakery will nestle itself within the Zia Sunnyside Apartments complex on 4055 Inca St.

Owned by husband-and-wife duo Diane and Manuel Guzman, Petunia used to operate on 3000 W 23rd Ave. in Sloan Lake, where it initially opened in 2022. They serve a wide array of coffees and signature lattes, like the butter pecan or honey bear. Their display case is chock-full of an array of picturesque baked goods. The Guzmans were forced to close their original location when the lease on the space expired.

“Unfortunately due to our lease expiring we are being forced to move out,” the couple wrote in an Instagram post in November 2025. “We are hoping to relocate nearby and continue to serve you.”

Petunia Bakery is opening in the vicinity of their original location, one neighborhood over, without an opening date set as of yet. What Now Denver has reached out to Petunia Bakeshop for more information.
