Portillo’s Undergoing Massive Expansion, Entering CO Market

Hot dog chain Portillo’s has plans to enter the Colorado market soon, including Denver. The company announced an aggressive expansion campaign recently, Restaurant Dive reported. 

Portillo’s told the publication that it expects to be able to open  920 restaurants in the near future: 800 full-sized venues and 120 pickup-style establishments. The current footprint for the company is 77 stores. 

The company has locations in Illinois, Indiana, Arizona, and California, and is planning to soon open in Nevada, Georgia, and Colorado. KDVR reports there will be eight locations in the state by the end of the year. 

A Chicago staple, Portillo’s started as a hot dog stand and is now in multiple states serving wieners , Italian beef sandwiches, salads, cheese fries, and desserts. The business has vintage-themed establishments and drive-thus.
