Chef Troy Guard of the TAG Restaurant Group has had a busy year, what with the opening of the long-anticipated Grange Hall. Among concepts like Little Dry Creek and The Crack Shack comes one of his own: Crazy Love Pizza.
“I’ve done a little pizza here and there throughout my career, but never super focused,” said Guard when he spoke to What Now Denver on Thursday. “I played around with the doughs and kind of went in the middle. Thicker than thin, thinner than thick.”
The result is a 1/2-inch crust similar to Sicilian styles, where it’s a little bit crisp but also has that soft, doughy flavor, similar to a focaccia style consistency.
Diners will be able to order a whole pizza to share, or by the slice if there’s any particular flavors you’d just like to try.
The flavors, in fact, are part of where the “crazy love” in the title comes from. Among the usual suspects like sausage and pepperoni, guests can also look for stylings like hot honey, Southern special fried chicken, and Korean-inspired pizza with kay bi steak, among others.
“I think of what I like to eat on a sandwich or a taco or maybe a la carte and decided to break the rules and throw it on a pizza,” said Guard. “The pizza bread is the canvas and we can just do whatever from there. It’ll be a lot of fun if you want to get crazy and try something new.”
The pizzeria is set to open on September 24 with the rest of Grange Hall at 6575 Greenwood Plaza Boulevard.
They have such a beautiful oven and they use it to bake HORRIBLE pizzas and Italian sandwiches. The handsome young man who waited on us who be fired on the spot by by Owner Andrew if he could see and heard the way we were mistreated. Inexcusable!
