A Venezuelan food truck near Grand Rapids is pulling into a new address soon.
Belkis Bistro announced their restaurant is opening at 1500 44th Street SW in Wyoming. Currently, Owner Belkis Lizarazo operates a food truck in the area. Lizarazo told What Now Detroit she is hoping to open the restaurant in about two weeks if all goes well with inspections.
The food truck has been open since September 2024 at 5700 Wilson Avenue SW and is now a popular option for Venezuelan cuisine in Southwest Michigan. Dishes served include stuffed arepas, crispy tequenos and golden empanadas. Many of the same dishes from the food truck can be expected at the restaurant, and the full menu is available on their Instagram @belkis.bistro.
“More flavor. More tradition. More of Venezuela,” says a recent post from the restaurant.
Belkis is opening close to the intersection of Burlingame Avenue SW, neighboring Sofis 44th Bakery and Supplies. The building was formerly Yureika’s Honduran Cuisine. This is a mostly residential area of Wyoming, with many businesses and restaurants being on the west side of the city.
Lizarazo has been working hard on her new restaurant, and she is hoping to finally open the doors after the last approval. The official grand opening date will be announced on social medi in the coming days.
