What has become an award-winning barbecue joint in Dearborn is now expanding to the northern suburbs.

Big Red’s BBQ Pit will soon be expanding to 27701 Orchard Lake Road in Farmington Hills. This will be the company’s second location, which is now under construction. Owner Ahmad Hammoud said the restaurant is set to open in three-to-four months.

Big Red’s BBQ in Dearborn is located at 720 Town Center Drive, across the street from the Fairlane Town Center mall. It opened in early 2023, and has since become a destination for smoked meats like wagyu back ribs, smoked chicken, brisket, sandwiches and cheeseburgers. For the new location, Hammoud said there will be new additions to the menu.

The awards Big Red’s has won in Detroit include Best Ribs, Best Sauce, People’s Choice for best barbecue spot. Their meats are 100% halal, and they offer the option to order online.

The new Farmington Hills location is at the corner Orchard Lake and 12 Mile roads, close to ShiangMi Chinese Fine Dining. In the most recent post from Detroit Sign Painters, the outside is being designed with a “Coming soon!” sign in front. The status of the inside is not known at this time.
