Rail House Grill & Billiards announced on social media a few weeks ago that the business has been sold. County licensing records indicate a transfer of license from the previous owner to Scott Dowd, and the restaurant will be renamed to Ride the Nine Billards.

On January 9, the previous owner, Casey Lim, posted a video on Facebook indicating that it was simply time for him to move on. The restaurant at 91 Douglas Ave holds many precious memories for the locals. Many have been regulars since they were teenagers.

Thankfully, the new owner, Dowd, shared his passion for a good gathering space and a chill pool house. Dowd and his family are members of the American Pool Association and will host league nights at the newly acquired Ride the Nine Billards. Some changes are also on the way as the bar and grill now offers $10 per person unlimited pool on Wednesdays starting at 6 p.m. and Double Jeopardy nights on Fridays.

The menu will largely remain the same. What Now Detroit reached out to Dowd for comments but didn’t get a response by the time of this coverage.
