AJ Meat and Eat is set to open at 5149 Reading Rd, Suite 166, in Rosenberg next Spring. According to a recently filed state permit, construction on the new grocery and eatery is expected to start at the beginning of the year and is slated to wrap up by April 2026.

What Now Houston spoke with AJ Meat and Eat owner, Shaista Jahan, about the new store coming to the Greater Houston area. Jahan shared that the hope is to bring this authentic experience to the Rosenberg area by next year, but she’s unsure if the AJ Meat and Eat will indeed open in April. The hope is that permitting and construction keep the small eatery on track to serve the community by Spring next year.

For Jahan, the opening is about more than good food, which is promised, but also community.

“I chose Rosenberg because of the Muslim community,” Jahan said.

AJ Meat and Eat will offer a plethora of meats and items for purchase, but will also cook up and dish out traditional Halal meals, Indiana cuisine, and homemade Pakistani dishes.

“My dad he makes very delicious food,” Jahan said.

That delicious food that Jahan plans to serve at AJ Meat and Eat will highlight the best of her father’s home cookbooks. AJ Meat and Eat plans to cook up and offer everything from chicken curry and chicken 65 to kabab, biryani, and more.

While AJ Meat and Eats is still in its preliminary phase with no social media or website just yet, but sure to keep your eyes peeled and your ears perked to find out the latest on Rosenberg’s newest food spot.

AJ Meat & Eat will open at 5149 Reading Rd, Suite 166, in Rosenberg by April 2026.
