Keke’s Breakfast Cafe is coming to Kingwood. Construction on the new installation of the beloved breakfast eatery is already underway. Keke’s Press Team confirmed with What Now Houston via email that renovations are expected to wrap in early 2026.
According to the permit filed with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and the popular breakfast spot’s website, the new Houston Keke’s Breakfast Cafe will live in the Kingwood Commons at 716 Kingwood Dr. The widely-celebrated restaurant will occupy the former Zachary’s Cajun Cafe in the same strip shopping center where a new Trader Joe’s is also expected to open soon.
The soon-to-open morning go-to spot will sit at approximately 3,855 square feet and serve its usual menu of American breakfast classics like waffles, pancakes, and eggs, and its comfort food lunches.
The Orlando, Florida-bred local food chain was founded by brothers, Keith and Kevin Mahen, in 2006, according to its website. The two were longing for an establishment in Florida like the ones they loved back in their home city of Philadelphia, so they created one. The website also shares that the now-booming breakfast joint was born out of a desire to offer a “better version of an American cafe focused on fresh, quality ingredients, abundant portions, cleanliness, and fast, friendly service.”
There are now more than ten Keke’s in America in five different states, including California. This new opening in Kingwood is a continued effort to expand in Texas, starting with Houston.
And if you’re wondering, who in the world “Keke is”, well, it may not be what or who you think. The co-owner brothers of the blossoming breakfast food chain combined the first two letters of their name to birth the name that is now uttered by many when they discuss where to go for a relaxed but fulfilling breakfast and lunch experience.
Keke’s media liaisons confirmed via email that the Kingwood Commons location, set to open in early 2026, is currently planned to be company-operated. You can expect to see more Keke’s Breakfast Cafe locations popping up throughout the country as the company franchises.
