Comfort Foodies is officially opening the doors to its Missouri City restaurant, inviting the community to experience the new location during its soft opening at 8731 Highway 6, Missouri City, TX 77459.
During the soft opening, Comfort Foodies will welcome guests Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., giving longtime fans and new neighbors alike their first opportunity to experience the restaurant’s new home.
The opening marks a milestone for the Houston-based concept, which has built a loyal following around its unique combination of Latin-Caribbean and Southern Soul Food. Owners Elsa and Jeff Matthews have been serving the Houston community since 2020, bringing together Elsa’s Dominican and New York roots with Jeff’s Houston upbringing and Southern Soul Food culinary influences.
“We have been looking forward to the day when we could finally open these doors and welcome the Missouri City community into our new home,” said Elsa Matthews, co-owner of Comfort Foodies in a statement. “This location represents so much growth for us, but at the heart of Comfort Foodies, we are still about the same things we have been since day one — great food, family, culture and community. We’re excited for everyone to come in, eat with us and be part of this next chapter.”
Located in the Sienna area, the approximately 3,000-square-foot restaurant offers seating for 50 to 60 guests and represents a significant expansion for the brand. The new space was designed to accommodate Comfort Foodies’ growing dine-in business as well as takeout, delivery, catering and its expanding frozen empanada line.
Guests can expect the dishes that have helped make Comfort Foodies a Houston favorite, including its popular oxtails with rice and beans and yams, featured as the restaurant’s most popular dish in the brand’s expansion announcement. The menu showcases the cultural influences at the heart of the restaurant, blending bold Caribbean flavors with comforting Southern favorites.
The Missouri City restaurant also introduces several new elements for Comfort Foodies, including a full bar with specialty cocktails and dedicated bar seating. The expanded location will eventually offer happy hour programming in addition to the brand’s popular value-driven lunch specials.
The soft opening period will allow the Comfort Foodies team to welcome the community while putting the finishing touches on operations ahead of its official grand opening celebration.
