Jersey Mike’s is bringing more of its sub love to Spring. According to a recently filed Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation permit, the world-renowned and beloved sandwich chain is planning to open within Montgomery County inside the Rayford Crossing retail center at 2927 Riley Fuzzel Rd, Suite 350.
The permit further details that construction on the new Spring Jersey’s Mike’s shop just kicked off and is slated to wrap up in mid-September. If all goes well with permitting and the estimated $300,000 construction project, the new Jersey Mike’s should open by this fall. A representative from Jersey Mike’s confirmed the opening and shared that the new Spring store should open closer to winter or early next year.
Though Hunter Jones was listed on the permit, the representative shared that Jones is likely a contractor. What Now Houston reached out to Hunter to confirm construction details. Unfortunately, we did not hear back by the time of this publication. The Jersey Mike’s rep confirmed that the franchise growth platform, Sizzling Platter, is behind the opening. What Now also reached out to Sizzling Platter’s Pat Wagner and Chief Executive Officer Nathan Garn. But we did not hear back from Garn or Wagner by the time of this publication.
“We provide unparalleled experiences for our team members, guests, and brands while driving strong financial performance to become the world’s premier franchise growth platform,” the Sizzling Platter website reads.
“We don’t need a TITLE to lead. We just need to CARE. People would rather follow a leader with a HEART than a leader with a TITLE.”
According to the website, the group currently owns and operates nearly 70 Jersey Mike’s shops throughout the country.
“Our mission is to provide unparalleled experiences for our team members, guests, and brands, while driving strong financial performance and becoming the world’s premier franchise growth platform,” the company’s website reads.
Sizzling Platter began working with Jersey Mike’s in 2021.
Jersey Mike’s started as Mike’s Subs in Point Pleasant, NJ, in 1956. In 1975, a 17-year-old Peter Cancro bought the pioneering sub shop with a loan from his coach. Cancro would rebrand the Mike’s Subs to Jersey Mike’s in 1987 and begin franchising, according to the Jersey Mike’s website. With a focus on authentic “Jersey” roots, the brand rapidly expanded through franchising.
There are now more than 3,000 Jersey Mike’s locations throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico, and the brand doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon. Texas has almost 300 of those locations, with just three in Spring, making the upcoming Rayford Crossing opening a welcome addition for both the brand and the franchise group.
Known for its variety of hot and cold subs, Jersey Mike’s offers a variety of sides, drinks, and desserts to go along with its multitude of sandwich offerings. The brand also now sells bowls and wraps.
Jersey Mike’s is anticipated to open in Spring inside the Rayford Crossing retail center at 2927 Riley Fuzzel Rd, Suite 350, by this winter.
