Josephine’s Restaurant is embarking on an opening in the East Little York area of Woodland Acres. According to a recently filed permit, the new eatery is expected to open at 11110 HOMESTEAD ROAD.
The permit further details that construction on the new Joshephine’s Restaurant and Lounge is already underway and is slated to wrap up at the beginning of September. If all goes well with the estimated $192,900 construction project and permitting, the new Josephine’s should open by this fall.
At the helm of the opening is Codey Hawthorne. What Now Houston briefly spoke with Hawthorne, who excitedly confirmed the opening.
“We plan to have a soft opening with a select number of open seats and will be invite-only, so be sure to follow our Instagram @josephineshtx for a chance to be selected. We will then have a grand opening for everybody to get a taste of Josephine’s,” Hawthorne said.
Hawthorne shared that Josephine’s is a gift to the community he grew up in.
“This area brings back a lot of nostalgic moments for me and is home for me. It was a no-brainer when it came down to the location. This area of the north side doesn’t have anything like this for those that stay nearby,” Hawthorne said.
“As a little boy grew up right here in Homestead and used to come to this corner store. So this is something I want to do to give back to my community and give Houston what they’ve been missing when it comes to authentic soul food.”
The menu will offer a taste of Southern eats. Hawthorne said that a menu highlight will definitely be the smothered oxtails and the oxtail eggrolls. He hopes to bring “unity, peace, and love” to the community with the opening of Josephine’s Restaurant.
“It’s like going to your granny’s house,” Hawthorne said.
“A place for people come together and enjoy recipes that are being lost with time.”
Josephine’s Restaurant is anticipated to open in the East Little York area of Woodland Acres at 11110 HOMESTEAD ROAD by this fall.
